The Lime Cycle - Explained.

The lime cycle is probably the best example of natural chemistry at work. This simple chemical process, a series of chemical reactions, is the basis for many processes happening every day.

The diagram shows clearly how limestone or chalk - Calcium Carbonate, turns into quick lime Calcium Oxide after burning or heating, then once water is added into hydrated lime Slaked Lime or Calcium Hydroxide. The cycle completes when it reacts with Carbon Dioxide from the air around it thus turning it into Limestone.
